TENNYSON

Trimmer – 1999

Bloom 4.5” (11cm) x height 26” (66cm)

Early-Mid/Dormant/Tetraploid

Tennyson flowers more mid-season here for me in UK.  The blooms are round, full and ruffled.  The etched red eye is dominant as is the very large yellow green throat.  The foliage is broad and low and it has a good budcount putting on a fabulous display.  The flowers ALWAYS open perfectly in English weather and it is very hardy.  A smashing cultivar.

THIN MAN

Trimmer – 2002

Bloom 12” (30cm) x height 42” (107cm)

Mid-season/Evergreen/Tetraploid

*Unusual Form Cascade*

Bright red 12” flowers with bold yellow midribs and yellow edges.  The flower has lots of movement with curling and twisting sepals – you cannot miss this one in a bed. The hotter it gets the better it looks.  Its pollen parent is Long Tall Sally.  An excellent red.

TUXEDO JUNCTION

Schwarz, B – 1999

 Bloom 7” (18cm) x height 30” (76cm)

Mid-season/Dormant/Tetraploid

I always think of this cultivar as an Unusual Form but it is not – quite.  Every year I look forward to my clump of this one flowering as it puts on such a fabulous show with masses of glistening blooms hovering above the foliage like butterflies.  On different days the colour can look quite different.  On cool days it is parchment with a yellow green throat and on very warm days it seems very light pink lavender – nearly white.  Increases well and is very elegant.  Special indeed.
